Our long standing relationship with Microvention continued with their office move and expansion from North Shields to Cobalt Park.

After outgrowing their office on the North Shields Fish Quay, Microvention Terumo partnered with us once again to design and fit out their new workspace at Cobalt Park. We were tasked with not only designing the space but also overseeing the furniture specification and installation.

The objective was to create a versatile environment that supports various work styles, including focused tasks, meetings, collaboration, and relaxation. At the core of the design, we placed height-adjustable desks and ergonomic task chairs, ensuring comfort and flexibility for all employees. Surrounding each team are thoughtfully designed breakout spaces that offer a change of scenery and promote creativity.

To enhance privacy and reduce noise, we incorporated acoustic booths throughout the office, along with a range of soft seating options for informal gatherings and solo work. A high bench with writeable walls adds a dynamic element for impromptu brainstorming sessions, freeing up formal meeting rooms for other purposes.

The office entrance features an oak slat acoustic wall that softens the space, complemented by stunning handmade pendant lights from local designer and manufacturer Fettler. These bespoke lights, which also feature in the pods, meeting room, and kitchen, add a unique touch to the overall design.

In the meeting room, we carefully selected finishes that ensure the space remains open and inviting, despite the impressive 8-meter-long table. Light-reflective surfaces, paired with white-framed Steelcase Series 1 chairs, create a balanced aesthetic, further enhanced by Fettler’s elegant pendant lights. A Logitech Teams AV system and room booking system were also integrated to facilitate seamless communication.

The kitchen area underwent a complete transformation. It now features bespoke banquette seating upholstered in vibrant emerald Panaz Noble fabric. The cashmere-coloured units are complemented by marble-style countertops and splashbacks, with Fettler’s statement lighting adding a final touch of sophistication.

To create a natural separation between the office area and private meeting rooms, real plants were used to form a walkway. Additionally, old recessed lighting was replaced with modern LED panel lights, bringing both energy efficiency and a contemporary feel to the space.

The companies branding was integrated throughout the office, with custom window manifestation applied on each elevation.
