AMH Workspace was delighted to be selected for the Monkwearmouth Hospital redevelopment project, tasked with designing, specifying, supplying and installing furniture across three floors.
In partnership with staff, we created a modern and spacious workspace designed to promote and encourage collaborative working. The new layout features a variety of desking arrangements, ergonomic seating and meeting spaces. Additionally, soft seating, quiet booth spaces and acoustic solutions are strategically placed across all floors, creating zones for focused work and promoting overall well-being.
The reception area with its spectacular atrium, welcomes visitors with a comfortable soft seating area adjacent to ‘Cafe Bede,’ a community cafe open to both visitors and the general public. This space offers a variety of lounge and cafe seating, complemented by bespoke, locally-made furniture units featuring handcrafted preserved foliage that seamlessly blend with the beautifully landscaped exterior.
The site, developed by Sir Robert McAlpine, has also achieved a Design Stage BREEAM Excellent standard, underscoring its commitment to sustainability and environmental excellence.
